By releasing an album on Sunday morning, Minaj will be cutting her charting week fairly short, as Billboard and Nielsen count a tracking week as Friday through the following Thursday. Pick My Fruit Out will only have five full days to accrue enough sales and streams (assuming it is delivered to any streaming platforms) to reach any significant charting spots. That’s something of an uphill battle, but if anyone can make it work, it’s Minaj.
The release of Pick My Fruit Out comes less than two years after the drop of her third full-length effort The Pinkprint , which became her first record to miss the top spot on the Billboard 200. That album, which debuted in the runner-up slot back in December of 2014, went on to send off seven singles, with five of them managing to break into the top 40 on the Hot 100. Since then, Minaj has featured on several hit singles and has never left the public’s eye, but she has been relatively quiet when it comes to releasing music where she is in the lead.
There is no word on what the plans are for Pick My Fruit Out , including any news about singles, videos, or whether it will be available in physical form at any point. For now, the excitement is centered around the return of one of hip-hop’s biggest personalities after some time away.
